When I get really frustrated and I feel my blood pressure rising, I remember what a pastor told me as I was going through hospice with my dad before he passed away. The pastor told me to think about the following Bible verse:
Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God!”
It is a simple sentence, but has deep meaning that helped restore me to a balanced and relaxed state of mind. The pastor explained that the word “still” means “to let go and to relax” as I turn my problem and myself over to God.
I have this Psalm written on a piece of paper in the kitchen. It is odd how our minds can handle so many things, but on certain days, when we least expect it, we may not feel tension mounting, our bodies tightening, and are blindsided by getting really stressed out. But, we always have an answer. I certainly do better when I read God’s word on a regular basis, instead of waiting for that moment of anxiety when I need a quick way to calm down.
I prefer to live in God’s perfect harmony by living in nature. It provides me with peace, serenity, and tranquility–a wonderful way to live every day.
